WNBA Fans Celebrate as Arike Ogunbowale Shares Surprise Wedding News

Arike Ogunbowale’s on-court future might be uncertain due to free agency, but off the court, things are more than just “settled”, and the WNBA fans are here for it.
After 2 years of dating, the 29-year-old decided now was the perfect time to tie the knot with fiancé Lala Ronay. While Ogunbowale’s Instagram post broke the wholesome news, Take Flight took it to X on March 23.
“Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale announced that she was recently married in a recent Instagram post”, the caption said. Along with a heartfelt note, “Congrats, Arike and Lala!”
The WNBA star posted a carousel of snaps from the ceremony to her Instagram account. She sported a dark blue all-denim outfit for the occasion, while Ronay withheld the tradition, wearing a white gown.
“Here’s to a lifetime of us. 02.24.26”, said Ogunbowale’s caption with a ring and infinity emoji. And fans just couldn’t stop swooning over it on both media.
Fans Celebrated the News on Both Media Platforms
Back in 2024, Ogunbowale proposed to Ronay during a surprise backyard ceremony after a Dallas Wings vs Chicago Sky game. With the red carpet, rose petals, and a giant “Marry Me” sign on site, fans couldn’t stop swooning back then. And it hasn’t changed a bit.
“Congrats to both of you”, wrote a fan in the comments section of Take Flight's X update. While another added, “Her wife is tall. Did she play basketball too? Congrats to the newlywed”. Someone even took notice of the outfit, writing, “okay denim suit!”
Even under the original Instagram post, people couldn’t stop celebrating. Some made emotional remarks, while some applauded the “full-circle” moment. Amidst shock and surprise, a flood of “congratulations” went on.
“Congrats! gotta have the party”, wrote one. While another highlighted the emotional impact, writing, “Congratulations, y’all! I’m not crying, you are. So happy for y’all frfr.” “Wowww full circle moment, proud of you family”, added one.
Some declared them the “favourite couple”, some gave blessings, and some wished all the happiness of the world for the newlywed.
The 88.5k likes and over a thousand comments told all that the couple deserved to hear while entering a new chapter of their life.
