LSU Tigers women's basketball rolled past Texas Tech Lady Raiders women's basketball on Sunday, as Flau'jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams combined for 48 points in a dominant 101–47 win to send LSU to its fourth straight Sweet 16.

In the postgame press conference, Williams shared her support for Johnson, whose senior season in Baton Rouge came to an end.

"Flau'jae is a legend. She's a legend," the LSU Tigers guard said.

"I think I've said it so many times, I think her jersey should go up, and she should have a statue outside. She's given so much to this program just on and off the court, and the reaction that the crowd gave her is nothing more than what I expected, and we love her," Williams also said.

Johnson backed it up on the court too, finishing with 24 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while helping the LSU Tigers women's basketball advance to the Sweet 16 after scoring 44 total points across two tournament games.

Now heading to Sacramento, LSU is set to face the Duke Blue Devils women's basketball next Friday, with a potential Elite Eight matchup looming against the UCLA Bruins women's basketball, the same team that ended their run last year.

Moreover, as the only remaining player from LSU’s 2023 championship roster and a projected first-round WNBA pick, Johnson received a standing ovation at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, marking an emotional final home game.

The moment hit even harder as she nearly fell into the arms of head coach Kim Mulkey, who was visibly emotional while subbing her out for the last time on that court.

Flau’jae Johnson Earns Highest Praise From LSU Locker Room

Flau'jae Johnson got emotional after the game, admitting she tried to hold it together but ultimately let it all out after giving everything she had on the court.

"I lost it. I knew I was going to lose it but I was holding strong," Johnson said after the game.

Kim Mulkey, clearly emotional herself, praised Johnson’s loyalty in an era of constant movement, highlighting how she stayed and made a lasting impact on the community.

"I was trying not to cry," Mulkey said.

Fellow senior Izzy Besselman also got emotional, calling it an honor to witness Johnson’s journey and saying her impact on the program deserves full recognition.

"I got a little teary-eyed. Just a testament to how hard she's worked and how much she's given this university and this program. She deserves every bit of recognition," Besselman further added.

Even with NCAA tournament branding taking over the arena, the atmosphere still felt like a true home game for LSU, giving fans one last chance to celebrate one of their most beloved players.
