Watch: US Olympic Figure Skating Team’s Disastrous First Pitch at Citi Field

The US Olympic figure skating team’s grace is usually unmatched. But none could’ve seen what was coming once they stepped inside the diamond.

Several figure skaters from the Gold-winning team of the Milan Olympics, including Amber Glenn, were present at Citi Field on April 30. But while they threw out the first pitch, only disaster and chaos could be seen.

“The US Olympic figure skating team threw the first pitch at the Mets game today. And it did not seem to go as planned,” Jomboy Media posted on X. The video showed stars like Glenn, Ellie Kam, and Danny O’Shea, or even Ilia Malinin, wreaking havoc.

In fact, Glenn, a 3x gold medallist at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, could land a perfect aerial manoeuvre before the throw. But when it came to pitching, her ball went over Emilea Zingas’ head.

Lastly, after a lot of chaotic misses, only Evan Gates managed to pitch perfectly to catcher Jason Brown. His dance on ice may have won silver in the Winter Games, but that pitch was golden compared to the rest.

After such a disastrous event, it is given that these stars would much rather stick to ice than anything else. And this is a sentiment that Glenn weighed in on heavily.

Amber Glenn Wants to Be Active in Her Sport

The other two members of the Blade Angels, Alyssa Liu and Isabeau Levito, did not show up for the pitching. But they were very much active on the ice, while the whole trio toured together as part of the Stars on Ice figure skating exhibition series.

And looking back at their Olympic run, Glenn admitted, “I definitely don’t think I’m done with figure skating. I love it so much. As long as my body keeps going and is healthy, mentally and physically, I don’t want to stop.”

Moving forward, do you think this Blade Angels trio will compete in the 2030 Winter Games in France? Let us know in the comments.
