Mar 13, 2026, 7:22 AM CUT

The much-discussed rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese has found a new chapter. That becuse instead of battleing in opposite teams the two stars connected for a key play at the FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament.

After thier first win in San Juan, USA’s second consecutive win came over Puerto Rico (91-48) on March 12. Beside the dominant scoreline, the Indiana Fever Guard and the Chicago Sky Forward’s on-court moment stood out.

“The ball movement from @usabasketball”, the caption said. “CC (to) Angel to finish off the possession! #FIBAWWC,” TNT Sports U.S posted on X with a video clip that highlighted the moment exceptionally well.

Clark could be seen passing the ball to Reese at the beginning, who had to pass it near the wings. It returned to Clark, who tried to get near the rim but was guarded. But a lay-up followed soon, as CC assisted Reese, who finally made the shot.

After intense competition since their collegiate days, both Clark and Reese kept at it in the W league as well. But wearing the Team USA jersey, they’re blending in already. However, the Fever Guard feels there is room for improvement.

Caitlin Clark Found the Game “Clunky”

Against Puerto Rico, Clark came up with 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Reese recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Kelsey Plum added 12, Kiki Iriafen racked up 10. But Clark felt that the game lacked transition and pace.

“I mean, I thought the game was a little clunky. I felt like we probably didn't play our best”, she said. “I obviously probably didn't shoot as well as I would have liked. I think their zone kind of threw us off… It kind of slowed down our pace a little bit. We didn't get as much in transition.”

However, Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers racked up a team-high 16 points, adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. While Bueckers and Clark did not get to try out their combination yet, the Fever star complimented Bueckers’ game, saying she “played really well.”

To battle the “clunky play” against teams that play well, Clark highlighted that Team USA needs to “play with a lot of pace” and resist slowdowns. Do you think Clark’s suggestion will improve the USA’s game? Tell us in the comments.
