Fans never seem to get enough of the Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese storyline, and today’s game against Team Italy was no different.

This time, however, the spotlight was positive. Unlike the previous game, the two stars showed strong on-court chemistry while representing Team USA. After all, both players shared the same goal: helping Team USA secure another dominant win. And once they stepped on the court together, they quickly started working toward it.

The highlight came in the first quarter when Team USA led 21–11. On the play, AR set a screen that freed CC on the perimeter. She then slipped into open space near the paint.

The Indiana Fever superstar quickly returned the ball to AR, who cut inside and finished with a smooth layup. Impressive right? Well, moments like this aren’t entirely new. 

Even in the previous win over Puerto Rico, CC made a highlight with Angel. She passed the ball to Reese on the wing before receiving it back while driving toward the rim.

CC then found AR again for the finish inside. But this latest moment stood out even more because of the controversy that happened before!

What Happened in the Last Game?

At one point earlier in the tournament, CC appeared to greet teammates Monique Billings, Jackie Young, and Chelsea Gray while checking into the game but seemed to miss Reese’s handshake. The clip quickly spread online.

“I don’t think Caitlin saw Angel, but I really hope she did,” wrote Dave Portnoy on X. But this wasn’t it. AR had also faced criticism in the previous game from fans who felt she was holding onto the ball too long during certain possessions.

Well, given the long history of rivalry between CC and AR dating back to their college days, moments like these often ignite online debate.

Finally, AR finished with 5 points, while CC contributed 12 to Team USA's 93-59 win. Now they're preparing for the next game versus Spain.
