Watch: Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Plum Turn Court Rivalry Into World Cup Chemistry

A WNBA rivalry is quickly becoming Team USA's most compelling new partnership. Based on recent practice clips, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Plum are trading their on-court battles for friendly banter. Their budding chemistry is a key storyline for the FIBA qualifying tournament.
And Athletic’s recent X post on March 9 showed the blooming bond between these two, showing the two sharing some friendly banter.
“You yell at me for not passing you the ball, and then you run in all excited to shoot a layup, and you can't even catch my pass”, Clark teased Plum during practice, in the clip. To which Plum retorted, “I did catch it!” Having Clark further say, “Barely…the ref woulda hit one of these 67”.
In the earlier part of the clip, Plum made a run to receive a pass from Clark, who just made the shot herself. Plum called this move “selfish”, laughingly, as Clark continued to say, “She has food poisoning”, to justify.
But maybe Plum shouldn’t have jokingly shouted, “About time, finally”, after Clark drained a 3P. Because the Fever Guard immediately rushed over and teased Plum about the pass she missed, even doing the viral 6-7 gesture.
Plum and Clark Had Been on It Since Day 1
With Clark’s Fever teammates Aliyah Boston and Sonia Citron withdrawing from the roster due to injuries, it was a question of who the Fever 22 would bond with the best. Plum and Boston had been close as they’ve played for the same team in the Unrivaled league. But now it looks like Clark is also enjoying Plum’s company.
On March 7, @usabasketball posted a clip of the athletes walking on the court. The LA Sparks’ Guard entered first and was dancing. But as Clark entered, Plum started nudging the 24-year-old, who flashed a smile.
@usabasketball captioned the post,” Vibes are v v good”. And after Plum and Clark’s recent interaction, it cannot be denied. What do you think their on-court chemistry will be like? Comment it down.
