Venus Williams Breaks Silence on Possible Future Teamup With Sister Serena

A Williams sisters reunion could be on the horizon. After Serena Williams became eligible to play, speculation about her return is growing. Venus Williams has now weighed in on a potential final run together.
While Williams instantly denied any speculations regarding her return to the court back in December, it seems like she has had a change of heart after taking her time thinking about it. While still not completely revealing her intentions, the 44-year-old became more warm to the idea when asked on The Today Show.
“That’s not a yes or a no. I don’t know, I’m just going to see what happens." Williams on her potential return to the court.
When asked about teaming up with Serena again, Venus gave a non-committal response.
“Oh man, wouldn’t that be cool? I never see her practicing, though. I don’t know where she’s doing it. I think to come back, you have to get out there. So, we’ll see if she can put some work in. I mean, of course, playing for exercise is nice. There’s a lot of hours that goes into it, so we’ll see what happens.” Venus Williams said.
Serena Williams has been spotted practising on the court, but whether that is serious training or not is anyone's guess.
Andy Roddick, Andrea Petkovic Provide Their View On Potential Serena Williams Comeback
On a recent "Served with Andy Roddick" podcast, the 2003 US Open champion believes that Serena will, in fact, return to the court, although it will not be anytime soon, especially not in next month's Indian Wells Open due to the nature of the weather.
"Nobody is bigger than the sport, but if anyone was, it would be Serena Williams. So the attention mechanism means she can’t go out and lose a match two and four at Indian Wells, without having to deal with all of it."
Historically, the Williams sisters have usually avoided entering the Indian Wells Open after receiving racial abuse in 2001, alongside their father Richard.
Meanwhile, Andrea Petkovic, who retired in the 2022 US Open just like Serena did, believes that nobody would make the efforts to be reinstated by the ITIA, making themselves available at all times during a six-month period, if not to seriously get into competitive mode.
