Unrivaled Shatters Pro Women’s Basketball Regular‑Season Attendance Record

The moment the Unrivaled league stepped out of Miami, they made history that even surpassed the WNBA’s recent records.
On January 31, 2026, Unrivalled sold out a doubleheader in Philadelphia, with 21,490 people in attendance.
This sets an all-time record for any regular-season professional women's basketball game. The massive crowd enjoyed two games at the Xfinity Mobile Arena, which also set a record for the highest attendance in the arena's history on this Saturday.
On the other hand, the W league recorded its highest attendance on September 19, 2023. It was during the Indiana Fever's game against the Washington Mystics that 20,711 people came to watch. It was also WNBA star Caitlin Clark’s last rookie match of the season.
However, the WNBA did hold two postseason games with 22,076 fans in attendance. One of them was in the 2003 and then the 2007 Finals at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit.
But the impressive part is that Unrivaled’s history is only 2 seasons long, yet they've already set a major record. The league's co-owner, Napheesa Collier, described this grand moment as a “testament”.
However, with Unrivaled setting new records, the WNBA is also about to experience a significant development regarding an issue that he been plaguing it.
The WNBA's CBA Negotiation Will Resume on Monday
The WNBA and WNBPA will finally proceed with the stalled CBA negotiations on Monday in New York. The negotiation stopped because both sides entered a "status quo" period. The disagreements over revenue sharing, free agency, and salary structure continued.
However, a day ago, Kelsey Plum, a former LA Sparks star and the WNBPA vice president, disclosed that the negotiations were about to resume on Monday.
She said, "We’ll learn a lot from this meeting. I’m not trying to put it on the meeting, but this is a meeting that I think everyone understands what’s at stake. The league has their timelines; we as players understand what’s at stake. I always come into anything that I do with a great attitude, and I’m going to see the best in this."
The record that Unrivaled set on January 31 was a statement about how far women’s basketball has progressed. As the chaos settles in the W league, do you think its attendance numbers will surpass Unrivaled's after its start? Let us know what you think in the comments!
