UConn Huskies Secure Dominant Win Despite a Setback

No. 1-ranked UConn has just extended its winning streak the 32 straight victories after toppling St. John's 88-43 on Wednesday.
UConn's first nine shots carried them to a ridiculous 20-2 lead, then they used St. John's 12 turnovers in the first quarter alone to go up 28-9.
One player stood out for head coach Geno Auriemma: Sarah Strong. "She has a knack that ... to put her hands, you know, get a piece of the ball every time she reaches for it."

Sarah Strong was on fire, dropping 19 of her game-high 24 points before halftime.
"I thought our energy was incredible, and I thought we were flying to the ball and covered for each other really, really well. The best that I think I've seen so far this year."
Azzi Fudd made 16 points, stretching her free-throw streak to 34 makes in a row. KK Arnold chipped in 11. Even Blanca Quinonez had 14 off the bench. While the defense snagged 23 steals total. It was also UConn's 45th straight Big East regular-season win.
But heading into the game, there was one issue for Auriemma and Co.
UConn’s El Alfy Sidelined with Concussion
Coach Geno Auriemma broke it down on his radio show Tuesday, "Somebody threw a pass, and Jana wasn’t looking or something, or it was a bad pass. Anytime a pass hits somebody in the head, it’s a bad pass… Jana was just trying to play defense, and somebody threw a pass and just whacked her right in the head."
She was listed as questionable but ruled out hours before the game, per concussion protocol, right when fans thought the injury bug was behind them.
Fans hope to see her return as UConn will return to keep their streak alive.
