After battling multiple injuries and a season-opening loss to the Dallas Wings, Caitlin Clark is already under the spotlight again. And now, radio host Tyrone Johnson has dropped a surprising take on her third WNBA season.
Recently, Clark has struggled from deep. Across her last eight WNBA games, she has made just 9 of 58 three-point attempts, shooting only 15.5% from beyond the arc. This led Tyrone Johnson to make a statement on The Craig Carton Show
"This could be a situation where this could all we look back on Caitlin Clark and we're not gonna look back on her like she's Michael Jordan. She's Jeremy Lin. This is just Linsanity,"
Johnson compared Clark’s rise to Jeremy Lin and the famous “Linsanity” run with the New York Knicks during the 2011-12 season.
During that stretch, Lin averaged 25.0 points, 9.2 assists, and 2.2 steals across 9 games and even scored 38 points against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers at Madison Square Garden.
But injuries and inconsistency later changed the direction of his career before he eventually retired in 2025 after winning a championship in Taiwan.
Johnson believes Clark could be facing a similar path.
"She's not the best guard in the WNBA. She's not even the best guard from her college class because that's Paige Bueckers who plays for Dallas who beat them in the season opener, " the analyst added.
Before entering the WNBA, Caitlin Clark built one of the greatest shooting resumes in college basketball history. During her time at the University of Iowa, she finished with 548 made three-pointers, the most ever in NCAA history.
Caitlin Clark Makes History Despite Fever’s Tough Start
Indiana lost its home opener on May 9, 2026, falling to the Dallas Wings 107-104, and once again showed several defensive problems that still need to be fixed quickly. Even with Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, and Caitlin Clark all scoring 20 points and above, the Wings overcame the Fever.
Even in the loss, Clark still made WNBA history.
She became the fastest player ever to reach 1,000 points, 250 assists, and 250 rebounds, breaking Diana Taurasi’s previous record of 62 games.
Of course, it is still early in the season, and Clark has already proven herself as one of the league’s top scorers and shooters, but that's clearly not enough for critics such as Johnson.
Now, fans will hope she can bounce back quickly when Indiana faces the Los Angeles Sparks tomorrow.
Do you think Caitlin Clark will go down the same route as Jeremy Lin? Let us know in the comments.
