“There Is Something Off”: WNBA Fans Weigh In on Caitlin Clark’s Latest Training Snaps With Stephanie White

While a reunion is mostly wholesome, WNBA fans have recently pointed out that it isn't always the case, with reference to Caitlin Clark's recent training session.
Clark has joined the practice sessions for the FIBA 2026 qualifying tournament, which will stretch from March 11 to 17. After Aliyah Boston and Sonia Citron withdrew from the roster, Clark was the only one from Indianapolis. But now there’s a change.
Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White was named an assistant coach by USA Basketball for the FIBA 2026 qualifying tournament on February 11. On March 10, the Fever’s official X account announced that Clark wouldn't be the only Indiana associate in the squad anymore, as White had joined the team in Puerto Rico. The caption to Fever's update read, "Coach and CC reunited."
After Clark suffered a season-ending groin injury in 2025, White led the team to the WNBA Playoffs for the first time since 2016, hitting the semifinals.
And now, the reunited pair can push Team USA’s game further. However, the fans have a problem with how Clark looks in the photos.
Fans Point Out an Issue With the Photos
The photos posted by Fever featured the Fever Guard and Coach engaged in on-court business, but the smile on Clark's face was missing, which she had worn ever since her arrival.
Fans on X were quick to rattle that out, hinting that something might be brewing between the two.
“If I am Sue Bird, I would ask if everything is alright between the two of them”, wrote one user. “I want Caitlin to be happy, positive, and energetic so she can unleash her basketball powers. There is something off about these two photos.”
Another fan stated that it has always been the case with White around and linked it to Clak’s time in Fever. A “probable” case of how the coach has treated her player earlier, and might not let her play her best this time, too.
“CC always looks sad or bummed out when she’s around Stephanie White, probably because how she treated her when she came onto the fever team”, the user wrote. “I think with some disrespect myself she won’t let CC play her game.”
Someone even stated that Coach White drains Clark and has only held the star back during the last season. So, if White is approaching the game with an “unchanged” mindset, it might require a prayer for the team.
“White knows how to drain the joy from Caitlin’s face. I TRULY hope Steph White lets Caitlin be Caitlin”, the comment read. “With the Fever, she tried her best to contain her. I lost all respect for Coach White then. I pray she’s changed.”
While there’s no official documentation of any dispute between these two, fans ultimately concluded on their own. But with Team USA scheduled to take the court soon, CC’s performance will tell the truth, if there is any.
Like the fans, do you also think that something might be off between the Fever No. 22 and the HC?
