“That Would Be Exciting”: Paige Bueckers Gets Real on Azzi Fudd Reunion at Dallas Wings

Apr 5, 2026, 12:39 AM CUT

Last time Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd ran the floor together, the UConn Huskies won a title. So, what if the two are reunited? Well, 'Buckets' is all for it.

The Dallas Wings star is currently in Phoenix, participating in a Team USA training camp. But before the Huskies tipped off their Final 4 round, Bueckers spoke on what it’d be like to play with Fudd on the same team again.

“That would be exciting. Again, I don't know all that I can say or what the future holds, but obviously, we've had a lot of things together under our belt," an X update from Dana Scott revealed her words. “We won a national championship together, so I think there's great success in that, but I guess time will tell.”

The 4 years Fudd and Bueckers played together for UConn, most of it was cut short due to injury setbacks. But they’ve won the franchise’s 12th title together anyway, and Fudd is one of the No.1 draft pick contenders.

So, given her skillset and on or off-court chemistry with Bueckers, Wings might just actually pick Fudd as their no.1. But based on how the situation is at this moment, things don’t look so smooth.

The Sad End to Azzi Fudd’s Collegiate Basketball Career

Despite averaging 17.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists this season, Fudd could only do so much when it mattered the most. In the Final 4 game against the South Carolina Gamecocks, she came down with just 8 points, 5 assists, and 1 rebound.

For a team like UConn to have a 62-48 defeat is shocking. The former “undefeated’ champs with a 54-game winning streak struggled terribly in both offense and defense. And this put a mark on Fudd’s otherwise fairytale collegiate basketball career.

Moreover, Paige Bueckers for Dallas Wings or Caitlin Clark for Indiana Fever were obvious 1st picks. It’s not the same case with Fudd, who might have to compete with the UCLA Bruins’ 6’7 star, Lauren Betts, or Spain's Awa Fam or TCU's Olivia Miles.

So, seeing all these, the Wings’ front office will probably move with caution while leaping for Fudd.

But do you think pairing up Bueckers and Fudd can give the Wings a boost?
