Caitlin Clark is back. After an eight-month injury layoff, the superstar made her debut for Team USA on Wednesday. While she unsurprisingly posted impressive stats, Clark was brutally honest about her conditioning.

This was Clark’s first game since July 2025, when a right groin strain against the Connecticut Sun and an ankle sprain during recovery forced her to miss the rest of the season with the Indiana Fever.

After the game, the 24-year-old spoke honestly about how it felt to be back on the court. “I think there were a couple of moments where I was like, sucking air,” Caitlin Clark said with a laugh.

“But I felt like I had my wind pretty well. I felt like I was playing really fast, and that was my main goal. I know that's what I can bring to this team, is tempo and pace,” added the 24-year-old, wearing her “USA” Nike Kobe 5 PEs in World Cup Qualifying.

Caitlin Clark shared that she knows exactly what she brings to the team and felt that playing 19 minutes was a good way to ease herself back into game action.

"Felt like I was effective when I was out there. But more than anything, it just makes me happy that I'm super sweaty right now and I got to play,” added Clark. She finished her debut with a 17-point, 12-assist double-double as the USA Women's National Basketball Team beat Senegal 110–46.

She ended the game with just 2 turnovers and finished as Team USA’s second-leading scorer behind Howard’s 21 points, despite playing with teammates she had only practiced with for four days.

Team USA HC Raves About Caitlin Clark’s Game-Changing Playmaking

Even with a veteran-heavy roster that includes stars like Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young, Kara Lawson still had plenty of praise for Team USA's #12.

“I thought Caitlin’s playmaking ability really got us going. We found a nice rhythm in the second quarter and scored a lot of points,” Lawson said during the postgame press conference.

Notably, with the team playmaker, 'Point Gawd' Chelsea Gray focused on scoring, Clark stepped in to run the offense for USAB.

Clark checked in with 5:27 left in the first quarter against the Senegal Women's National Basketball Team, marking her senior national team debut and her first competitive game in 239 days.

That said, how big of an impact could Clark have for Team USA in the rest of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup Qualifiers? Give us your take in the comments.
