Even the fiercest athletes can be completely different off the court, and Sophie Cunningham recently confirmed that Caitlin Clark is an example of such an athlete.
Cunningham’s bond with Clark has been evident ever since 'The Enforcer' joined the Fever in 2025. On the February 25 episode of the Like a Farmer Podcast, Soph addressed her bonding with Clark, talking about the Fever guard's layers that most fans were clueless about.
The 29-year-old disclosed what she loves about Clark. And that’s different from what Clark brings to court. Cunningham said, "I think she is such a normal human... Like, she loves ball. But she's a big ole dork. I think it's just an overall, like, you kind of go in, and you don't know what to expect. She's a generational player. She has all this tension and carries it all so well, especially being her age."

Though the Fever 22 has barely made her dorkiness obvious, many could guess it from her social media activities. Lightly roasting her height beside NBA legends on X, complaining about migraine under a bad angle Instagram post. Clark has done this several times.
"And I promise you, she's the biggest dork you will ever meet," Cunningham continued about Clark. "So, I just love her. Like, love her whole vibe. There's not one whole story that kind of sticks out.”
While this gives a new perspective on the Fever star’s personality, Cunningham has always talked about Clark with high regard.
Sophie Cunningham's Relentless Support For Caitlin Clark
Cunningham has probably been one of Clark’s biggest supporters all time. From celebrating the 24-year-old’s achievements, defending her from backlashes, and commenting hilarious things about her, Soph has never hesitated.
During 2025 August, in an episode of her Show Me Something podcast, Cunningham addressed the criticism Clark faced, saying it’s dumb when people “try to argue that she’s (Clark) not the face of our league or our league would be where we’re at without her”.
In the same year, Soph mentioned Clark’s on-court effect. Saying that the fever plays “a different style of basketball” when Clark is on the team, or else, “It's almost like two different teams”.
Most recently, Soph was quick to praise Clark’s NBC debut, saying, “She did a really good job. She was a natural up there”. It was “no shock” for Cunningham as “[Clark is] a dweeb” who “knows the game”.
Cunningham’s remarks about Clark were barely ever off the mark. So, when she says the Fever 22 is a dork, we better believe her. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments.
