The WNBA situation has been chaotic lately, but when Sophie Cunningham makes a video, things get interesting most of the time.

On January 28, Mew7777 posted a video of Cunningham on X. And the Indiana Fever star clearly hinted that something big is going to happen over the weekend.

"I also have been hinting at you guys that there’s something really freaking amazing coming up, and it’s like a dream. A dream of mine”, the fever Guard said excitedly. "I still can’t tell you what it is, but it is happening this weekend."

And this one seems like a follow-up to what she said previously. Earlier this month, Cunningham posted an Instagram story that read, "excited to share some stuff with you guys towards the end of the month." And all these hints might lead to the ongoing CBA negotiation.

The Fever 8’ has been very vocal about the negotiation from the beginning. On January 15, she mentioned how “dumb” the situation is in her Show Me Something Podcast, to co-host, West Wilson.

"Me and Sydney Colson were the only ones there this past week, and our CBA is so dumb right now, like it’s heading towards a lockout," the star highlighted, "So, nothing, we get weekly emails from the PA side of things, and it’s just so dumb."

So, each time she hints at something, it feels like seeing light at the end of a tunnel. And this will not be a guessing game forever, as Cunningham said, "But once I can share, 100% I'm going to ASAP."

However, Cunningham is a free agent since her one-year contract with the Fever expired. And for now, Fever cannot do anything due to the pending CBA. But that does not mean Cunningham is sitting out the offseason.

The Fever star may not be on the roster this season despite expressing a desire to rejoin Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull on the paint. However, she has been expanding her reach beyond the league. She has her podcast and also runs a Sophie Cunningham Classic in her hometown of Missouri. It’s a three-day event to showcase elite high school girls' basketball.

And recently, she has also shown some political interest. On 12^th January, the former Missouri Tigers star shared a photo on X, tagging Missouri’s Governor Mike Kehoe, where she was sitting at his desk. The caption was, “I know some people say I’m the Mayor of Columbia, but I’ve been thinking BIGGER here lately. Governor Cunningham might have a better ring to it.”

While this was clearly a joke, it may be a hint of her trying her hand at a different road. And considering the current situation, free agents like her or Kelsey Mitchell have an uncertain future in the W league. So, it makes sense that these players would try to expand their careers beyond the league.
