Sophie Cunningham's potential return to the Indiana Fever had a cheeky twist as she bantered with Caitlin Clark.

On 15th January, Cunningham sent social media buzzing with a TikTok from her first season with the Fever. The guard posted a slow-motion clip of herself and teammate Chloe Bibby stealing the ball from Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers.

“Miss this and @Chloe Bibby,” she captioned the post. Caitlin Clark wasted no time jumping in the comments with, “Time to run it back.”

That’s when Cunningham replied with a line that sent Fever Nation into meltdown mode: “Only if you cuddle and make me dinner twice a week.”

Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham quickly became a fan-favorite duo after the Jacy Sheldon incident when Cunningham defended Clark. Since then, the two have shared many social media interactions via Instagram comments.

On one occasion, when Clark captioned one Instagram story as, "I love a breath of fresh air," Cunningham used it as an Instagram post caption. Clark swooped into the comments section with another cheeky remark to keep the joke going.

Later in August, Cunningham took a moment to describe this dynamic. "We’ve had a fun relationship so far. She loves hard, but at the end of the day she’s like one of my little cousins. She’s the age of them, she acts like. I’m just like, ‘Dude, you’re a dweeb."

Cunningham, along with Lexie Hull, also joined Caitlin Clark as caddies for the Annika Pro-Am.

But Will Sophie Cunningham Return

Big decisions await the Indiana Fever as two expansion teams join the league. While Clark and Boston maintain their rookie contracts, Sophie Cunningham, Kelsey Mitchell, and almost 100 WNBA players enter free agency.

Cunningham has made it clear that she desires to be back. When she made an appearance at the Indiana Pacers game, fans made a unanimous demand for her return.

Though nothing can be said at this moment, one thing is sure: Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark’s friendship extends beyond the court.
