Sophie Cunningham is updating fans on her recovery from a season-ending knee injury, and the WNBA star shared a specific fitness goal on social media.
After tearing her right MCL back in August last year, against the Connecticut Sun, Cunningham has undergone surgery and has been focusing on getting back on the court.
Cunningham has been fairly active on social media alongside her own podcast, "Show Me Something". Yet, the Fever star surprised fans in her Instagram story, where she wrote, "Need to gain 5lbs."
She revealed that she has lost 16.5lbs during her rehab, going down to 148.5lbs from her listed weight of 165lbs recorded last season. Thankfully, Cunningham has been working on getting back in shape with professional NBA trainer, Coach P.

Cunningham was seen doing ball-handling and manipulation drills as one of her initial steps to get back into shape for the league. The Commissioners Cup champions certainly have a couple of spots available on their team for the unrestricted free agent to hop back into action.
Will Sophie Cunningham Stay at the Indiana Fever Next Season?
The Fever star's contract expired at the end of last season, and now comes the decision whether she would like to stay and pick up where she left off alongside heavyweights like Caitlin Clark.
While the American has expressed her interest in staying with Indiana for another season, especially after her abrupt exit to the sidelines last year, she has not officially committed herself to it during the current 2026 off-season.
Returning to the Fever is a strong option, as Cunningham was playing at an elite level before her injury. In 30 games, the guard averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per 25 minutes. Her career-highs in field goal percentage (46.9) and three-point shooting (43.2) make her an integral part of the team.
Despite injuries, the Indiana Fever were among the favourites to win the league. Adding back their healthy "enforcer" would definitely make them serious contenders once again, come next season.
