Being compared to Caitlin Clark in terms of looks isn’t something Sonia Citron is unfamiliar with. However, the Washington Mystics star finally expressed her feelings about it.
Long before hitting the WNBA hardwood, the facial features' similarities between Clark and Citron drew the attention of many. And recently, Indiana Fever’s radio broadcaster, John Nolan, revealed what Citron felt about it.
“I joked about it with her at All-Star. I was like, ‘People think we look like we’re twins.’ We were laughing about it,” said Citron, per Nolan’s X post on May 15. “I don’t know if I see it. But we’re both tall, have brown hair, play basketball and wear 22.”
In short, the Mystics’ Guard humorously brushed past the comparison with the generic descriptions. Surely there are some similarities between the two, but Citron has long made a name for herself in the league beyond that.
She is averaging 24.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists across 3 regular-season games, close to CC’s 25.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 8.0 assists. So, her on-court prowess is probably a better comparable topic than just looks.
However, the lookalike comments aren’t too far from the mark either. And the Mystics’ star once shared a pretty hilarious experience about it.
A Fan Once Mistook Sonia Citron for Caitlin Clark
This whole lookalike comparison precedes Citron’s WNBA career, dating back to her tenure with Notre Dame. And last year, a rookie Citron shared one of her “weird” experiences about it.
“I would say something weird happened when I got recognized, because it wasn't me," Citron recalled. "I was at a restaurant with my two best friends from Notre Dame, in South Bend, and this guy came up to me.”
And the next part is probably quite foreseeable. Citron stated that the guy “was super excited, and was like 'Oh my goodness, are you, Caitlin Clark?” But she had to turn him away, saying, “It's not me.”
With that being said, can you name any other WNBA lookalike duo? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
