Skylar Diggins Shares Personal Message About Her Journey

Just before the New Year, Skylar Diggins reflected on the battles she's won. In November 2024, the point guard separated from her husband, Daniel Smith. Since then, she's been juggling being a WNBA star and mother.
So she took to Instagram to reflect on surviving a rough year and the relief of making it through on her own. “Been doing everything BY MYSELF (sic) for over a year now,” she wrote, per TMZ.
“Just me and my babies (and the help of my mom/dad). THAT’S IT!” she wrote. However, Diggins hasn't just survived. Seattle Storm's No. 4 made all 43 starts this season, averaging 15.5 points and six assists per game.
“Working, paying the bills, being a present mother, and battling through a lot of unknowns… God’s strongest soldier 2025," added Diggins, who also made her 7th All-Star appearance this year.

The Seattle Storm point guard met Daniel Smith while she was a superstar at Notre Dame. The two began dating, got engaged in 2016, and married in 2017. They welcomed their son, Rowen Seven, in 2019, and their daughter, Ana Lia Irie, in 2023.
And while looking after her children and performing in the paint haven't been easy, she's not taking time off from the court.
Skylar Diggins Wants to Win
Diggins is set get back on the court with Unrivaled this month. However, the league has played a part in that decision.
The single mom of two revealed on November 18 earlier this year that Unrivaled provided daycare during games. That was something Diggins experienced for the first time in her 11-year career.
All this enabled Diggins to take care of her young children in Miami while continuing to play the sport she loves. So, it’s no surprise she’s back for a second season.
Skylar Diggins is not treating it as a stopgap before the 2026 WNBA season either. Diggins has teamed up with Napheesa Collier on the Lunar Owls. Last year, the Owls were among the favorites heading into the playoffs until Vinyl BC upset them.
This year, Diggins wants to win. "We didn't win it, so we want to win. I'm not going to lie," she said.
