“Shooters Shoot”: NBA Coach Calls Out Caitlin Clark in Viral Challenge

The basketball world lit up on social media this week with a new challenge. The famous shooting coach Chris Matthews, aka Lethal Shooter, came up with a bold challenge to hoopers all around, but only after praising Caitlin Clark.
The Nike shooting coach is one of the most sought-after trainers and motivational speakers in the basketball world. And if you needed more proof of Caitlin Clark's talent, he's just given it.
In an Instagram video posted, Matthews is seen on the court. He directly called out Caitlin Clark, saying, “Hey Caitlin, they always doubt you. Same with me in the comments. They tell [me] I can't use my left hand. But we both know that shooters shoot”.
Matthews, facing his back to the basket, made a three with his left hand that landed perfectly.
He followed up the Caitlin praise in his caption before setting up the challenge. “Caitlin Clark understands it.. she’s one of the best shooters of all time,” Matthews wrote.
“Now it’s time for you to PROVE that you’re a shooter also”. The two-time world record holder asked the basketball community to shoot a video doing a trick shot using the hashtag #FromAnywhere
Caitlin Clark was quick on the scene to comment “Lethall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” under Matthews’ post.
Game recognizes Game
Caitlin Clark is undoubtedly one of the best shooters in the WNBA, earning comparisons to Steph Curry. And coach Chris Matthews acknowledging this is no shocker.
But she's been doing this since her Iowa days. In March 2024, during Iowa’s Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal with Penn State, Clark passed Stephen Curry's 162 3-pointers made during his time at Davidson to shoot her 163rd. She became the new record holder in 3-point field goals for a DI single season!
However, this was only the start. Throughout her time at Iowa, she led the conference in field goals made, attempted, and three-pointers made and attempted.
She set new career highs with 1293 field goals made and 543 3P’s in 139 career games for Iowa, indicating an all-time career women's NCAA D-I record. CC followed it up with 122 3-point field goals in her rookie season with the Indiana Fever, topping the list there, too.
So if Caitlin Clark doesn't “understand” it, who else does?
