No. 25 Washington was remarkable during today’s game. They outlasted No. 16 Maryland in an 83–80 double-overtime thriller, on the back of a historic Sayvia Sellers performance.

She scored 34 of her points in the second half and overtime, completely taking over when it mattered most. And by the end of the game she had delivered a career-high 38 points to lead Washington to the win.

She’s now the first Washington player since 2014 to record at least 35 points, five assists, multiple steals, and multiple blocks in a single game.

The last Husky to do it was Kelsey Plum. Notably, Plum, the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer with 3,527 points, also holds the single-season scoring record with 1,109 points during the 2016–17 season.

And this wasn't a one-off performance from the junior guard. On January 18, Sellers scored a game-high 23 points against Minnesota, helping the Huskies extend their long-running win streak against the Gophers.

The 67-54 victory was the Huskies' seventh straight win against Minnesota. Yet, beyond the game-winning perfromances, it was how Sellers powered the win that stood out.

How Sayvia Sellers helped the Huskies

The game was tied at 46 heading into the fourth quarter, and regulation featured five more ties. However, it was Elle Ladine's three-pointer that sent the game into overtime for Washington.

Then it all came down to the extra periods, where Sellers scored seven points. Sellers' fifth three-pointer put Washington in front.

Sellers hit a go-ahead basket to give the Huskies a one-point lead with four seconds left. She also scored the eight points that tied the game at 39 midway through the third quarter.

Overall, Sayvia Sellers accounted for 14 of the Huskies’ 23 points in that period. So it's safe to say that the junior didn't just make franchise history; she carried the game multiple times when Washington struggled to get ahead.
