Sabrina Ionescu’s LA Home Targeted in Late-Night Burglary

Forbes recently released its list of the highest-paid female athletes, and Sabrina Ionescu earned a spot. The New York Liberty star ranked as the second-highest-paid WNBA player and 13th overall, with reported earnings of $10.5 million in 2025. But the milestone came with a troubling turn.
Sabrina Ionescu and her husband, Hroniss Grasu, were victims of a recent crime. According to ESPN, masked men broke into the residence on December 15. They entered their California home on Monday night wearing ski masks and stole handbags valued at approximately $60,000.
An LAPD spokesperson said the suspects “took property and fled in an unknown direction” around 8 p.m. local time. Fortunately, neither Ionescu nor Grasu was home at the time of the break-in.
The incident has drawn attention due to the couple’s public profiles. Ionescu, 28, is a four-time WNBA All-Star and a 2024 WNBA champion with the Liberty. Grasu, meanwhile, was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2015 and most recently played in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders.
But surprisingly, they aren’t the only victims from the sports world.
Jeffery Simmons’ Home Is Burglarized Too
Just a day earlier, Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons’ home in Tennessee was also broken into. At that time, he was travelling with his team to face the San Francisco 49ers. That incident occurred within the Midtown Hills Precinct and remains under investigation by Nashville police.
Authorities say surveillance footage captured at least six suspects breaking into the property after smashing a window to gain entry. Several items were reported missing once the crime was discovered.
So yes, Ionescu is not the only athlete affected in recent days. And this highlights a concerning trend that continues to impact the sports world.
