A 45-year-old record has fallen.
Texas guard Rori Harmon made history Thursday night, breaking the school's all-time steals record in a 77-64 win over LSU. This victory was especially sweet for the Longhorns after LSU had outshone them 70-65 earlier in January.
Harmon entered the game with 345 career steals, just two shy of Linda Waggoner’s long-standing record.
The historic moment came with just over a minute left in the third quarter, when Harmon passed the ball away from LSU's Kate Koval. After a quick scramble for the loose ball, the possession arrow pointed Texas' way, giving Harmon her 347th career steal and the record.

Harmon ended the night with five steals in total, bringing her total to 349. This is even more impressive because she's now the first active Division I player to lead Texas in both steals and assists.
It is a remarkable double achievement that shows just how complete her game has been throughout her time at Texas. The senior recorded 11 points in 33 minutes of action. Right now, in this season, she's averaging 9.1 points per game since her injury-shortened junior year.
Harmon leads the Longhorns with nearly seven assists per game, serving as the tip of the spear for Texas' defense, which boasts the third-best defensive rating in the nation.
Though the narrative from January was flipped by Texas on thursday but, the Tigers refused to go quietly into the Texas night.
LSU Gave a Tough Fight
Despite facing relentless pressure from Harmon, LSU guard Mikaylah Williams led all scorers with 20 points, going 7-for-11 from the field and adding two rebounds. She was the lone offensive player for LSU as she shot 41.7% from the field. For the team, the rebounding kept the Tigers in the game through the first three quarters, as they ended with a 40-36 advantage on the glass.
Both teams started a combined 7-for-7 from the field in the first quarter before LSU went three minutes without a point and turned the ball over 4 times in the first six minutes.
The Longhorns retained the lead for the entire third quarter but never extended it beyond six points as LSU's paint play kept it afloat, staying aggressive and getting to the foul line. Not just Rori, but Flau'jae Johnson added 11 points for the team too.
The Longhorns outscored LSU 20-11 in the frame during the fourth quarter. By opening on a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach. Texas went on an 11-0 run to gain a 14-point lead over LSU halfway through the final quarter.
Texas turned it up in the second half to pull away, outscoring the Tigers 37-28. LSU recorded (41.7%) field goals in the second half, while Texas shot for 32.3 percent.
That win marked sweet revenge for Texas after losing to LSU by five in Baton Rouge back in January. What do you think?
