Ranking Defensive Forces of WNBA: Top 10 Players With Most Blocks in 2025

In what was the most-viewed season in WNBA history, multiple stars lit up the league with their dominant defense. With players averaging 1.164 blocks per game, defenses were on a all time high. And here's our top pick.

Starting at No. 10 with Shakira Austin, who finished with 43 blocks in 38 games for the Washington Mystics. She averaged 1.1 blocks, 12.7 points, and 6.4 rebounds in 23 minutes per game.

Right alongside her, Olivia Nelson-Ododa also recorded 43 blocks for the Connecticut Sun. She played a total of 37 games, averaging 1.2 blocks, 8.2 points, and 5.0 rebounds in 21.6 minutes.

Moving up the list, Kamilla Cardoso totaled 47 blocks in 40 games with the Chicago Sky. She added 13.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while averaging 1.2 blocks in 27.6 minutes.

Azurá Stevens matched that number with 47 blocks for the Las Vegas Aces aswell. In 44 games, she averaged 1.1 blocks, 12.8 points, and 8.0 rebounds.

Next comes Brittney Griner. She finished with 47 blocks in 39 games for the Atlanta Dream, averaging 1.2 blocks, 9.8 points, and 5.2 rebounds in 20.8 minutes.

Now the Top Five WNBA Defences of 2025

Napheesa Collier recorded 50 blocks in 33 games for Minnesota. She posted 1.5 blocks, 22.9 points, and 7.3 rebounds per game while logging 32.3 minutes.

Not far ahead, Natasha Mack totaled 52 blocks in just 34 games with the Phoenix Mercury. She averaged 1.5 blocks and 5.8 rebounds in 18.3 minutes.

Things Took Off From There

Alanna Smith finished the season with 80 blocks for the Minnesota Lynx. Across 42 games, she averaged 1.9 blocks, 9.6 points, and 5.1 rebounds.

Just missing the top spot was WNBA Star A’ja Wilson. She recorded 92 blocks in 40 games for the Las Vegas Aces, along with 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per night. She also averaged 2.3 blocks, the best per-game mark among the top contenders.

Ezi Magbegor Is No. 1

She led the league with 96 blocks for the Seattle Storm. In 44 games, she averaged 2.2 blocks, 6.2 rebounds, and anchored the Storm’s defense all season long.
