Monique Billings Sends Clear Message on Her "New Chapter" With Indiana Fever

The Indiana Fever did not dwell much on constructing their squad for the 2026 WNBA season, as they acquired the services of Monique Billings, who had a lot to say about joining the side.

On April 11, Billings shared a cryptic message on X that she might be on the move to sign a new contract, but confirmed it after the deal was officially announced. Forbes WNBA reporter Roberta Rodrigues was the first to report this signing.

"I’m so excited for this new chapter with @IndianaFever, time to get to work!!!" Billings shared on X.

Billings signed with the Fever after spending just a single year in the Bay Area with the Golden State Valkyries. She averaged 7.3 points on 44.7% shooting and 4.5 rebounds in 26 games.

The 29-year-old was drafted No.15 overall in 2018 by the Atlanta Dream and spent the first six years of her career with them. She went on to start for Dallas and Phoenix on hardship contracts in 2024, ultimately signing a rest-of-season contract with the latter that August.

In total, Billings has played in 236 WNBA regular-season games and started 66. However, Billings would not have to start with her introduction to all players in Indiana, as her signing brings familiarity to the Fever's core members.

The 29-year-old has already played alongside Kelsey Mitchell on Hive BC in Unrivaled. She also has a recent history of playing with star player Caitlin Clark during the FIBA World Cup qualifiers last month. Moreover, her first points in national colours came from a CC assist.

While Billings' signing provides Indiana with much-needed certainty, the 29-year-old also had some demands to be fulfilled.

Monique Billings Seeks a Unique Piece of Information After Signing for the Indiana Fever

Billings showcased her excitement after joining Indiana in a video posted by the team.

It displayed her saying, "Ready to get to work with my team. Championship mindset, mentality, hustle, grit — all of those things that Indiana basketball stands for. I'm excited to be part of it. Excited to play in front of the amazing fans as well."

Shifting to a new city and transitioning to a new team is always difficult for any player. Being a foodie, Billings' move to Indiana presents an obstacle to fulfilling her cravings. As a result, Billings requested fans to educate her about some good food joints in Indiana.

"And y'all gotta put me on the food spots in Indy," Billings added. "Y'all know I like to eat. Let me know where the spots are."

The Fever squad can easily fulfill Billings’ request, as most of them bonded while attending the Indiana State Fair last season. For sweet tooth cravings, Billings should head towards Caitlin Clark.

Apart from her love for food, Billings also mentioned how the team made her "feel wanted and valued." Initial impressions definitely suggest that Billings would fit right in with the rest of the players.

So, how do you think the 29-year-old's addition will affect the Fever?
