Marina Mabrey Breaks Silence on 'Shameful' Caitlin Clark Incident

What happened on the court on June 17 last year lasted only seconds. The fallout, however, has continued.
It all comes up as Marina Mabrey admitted she crossed the line during a game against the Indiana Fever. She said mounting losses and Caitlin Clark’s dominant performance pushed her emotions too far.
“I know when I went too far with things, and it’s shameful,” she told Sue Bird recently. “It’s like, ‘Really, Marina? That was ridiculous.’ So, for example, the Caitlin thing. When the play was over, it was obvious that my emotions—us losing and losing and losing—and then she’s low-key punking our team on top of it, that was too far.”
Well, the incident began when Jacy Sheldon appeared to poke CC in the eye during the second half. The two exchanged a brief shove. Mabrey then shoved Indiana Fever superstar to the floor. As a result, CC’s fan base reacted strongly, especially since Mabrey was not ejected.
Also, since Mabrey has long had a reputation for on-court scuffles. Still, this marked the first time she publicly admitted she went too far.
“I probably overreacted a little bit. But my teammate was getting hit, and I’m not okay with that,” she told Mark Madina during the August 10 interview. “It wasn’t like, ‘I hate her.’ I don’t do stuff like that. Everybody knows I’ve never done that before.” However, Mabrey didn’t just admit but took relevant actions.
Marina Mabrey’s Crash Out Jar
When Mabrey had another heated exchange after bumping into Shakira Austin at Unrivaled, a broadcaster joked about her needing a “crash-out jar.” This time, Mabrey embraced the idea. She created a jar where she fines herself every time she swears, insults someone, gets into a scuffle, or overreacts emotionally.
So the goal is simple: growth and accountability. She started the jar after a public argument with Courtney Williams during a January game. Since then, she appears to have better control. She even delivered a career-best 47-point performance in Philadelphia.
But….has Mabrey truly turned the page? Follow She Got Game and keep anete out.
