LSU’s 13-0 has been a team effort this season, but the last 2 wins this week have shone the spotlight on a five-star freshman.

After what has been called a ‘historic week’, the league office announced LSU's Grace Knox as the SEC Freshman of the Week on Tuesday. This came after her stellar performances in home wins over Morgan State and Texas-Arlington.

The 6’2 freshman pushed the team to a 110-45 win over UT with her 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 steals, while putting up 10 points and 7 rebounds versus Morgan State. 

Leading scorer in both games, she averaged 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game with 11.5 PPG overall.

Her game-leading 25 points with a 55.6 FG%, making 10 of 18, was her best performance in the purple jersey so far. With this, the Vegas native marked the highest single-game scoring total by any Tiger through the team’s first 13 games.

Her consistency showed across the box score with career highs in field goals made (10), blocks (3), and steals (3). 

The SEC recognition places her in Mikaylah Williams' elite company, as she becomes the first LSU freshman to earn the honor after Williams' three in the 2023–24 season. 

Her statement in SLAM Magazine's interview has aged quite well in this context: “I want to be on the first All-Conference team for the SEC and just [win] as many freshman accolades as I can, just so people know who I am and that I can prove myself.”

Grace Knox is thriving at LSU

 “I would say I chose LSU because, for one, I know Coach Mulkey can develop me for the next level,” Knox said. “I love the culture on and off the court which set it apart from the other schools mostly.”

“On the visit I felt the genuineness and passion in the coaching staff. There didn’t seem to be an awkward moment, and could see myself thriving at LSU next year,” the 19-year-old added. 

There is no stopping Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers as they go undefeated to meet Alabama State on 28 December, riding on Grace Knox’s confidence.
