Kelsey Plum Speaks Out Amid WNBA CBA Talks as She Dominates in Phantom Win

Kelsey Plum led Phantom BC to a 94–60 win over the Lunar Owls BC in Unrivaled play, recording 38 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds, and two steals.
The result marked Phantom BC’s first win of the season, although it held no impact beyond the 3-on-3 league format.
Following the game, Plum addressed the ongoing WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement discussions.
In a video shared on a thread by The IX Basketball recently, Plum confirmed that she had been involved in calls earlier in the day related to negotiations, citing her role as First Vice President on the WNBPA Executive Committee.

“To be completely transparent, I was on some calls today,” Plum said. “Being part of the EC, being VP, you have to inform players, ask their opinions, try to get the best pulse on how we’re feeling and how we want to move forward.”
Plum explained that managing union responsibilities alongside competitive play presents challenges, particularly when addressing media during negotiations.
According to Plum, negotiations are currently in a holding phase, with both sides continuing discussions without resolution.
The CBA governs salaries, revenue distribution, free agency and working conditions across the league. As talks continue, Plum noted that players remain focused on maintaining game readiness.
“At the end of the day, we all want to play basketball,” Plum said. “So hopefully we can get this done sooner than later.”
WNBA negotiations remain stalled as players balance uncertainty
The WNBA entered a status quo period after the deadline for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement passed on January 9, 2026, without a deal or extension.
As a result, league activity such as free agency and expansion planning has been paused, although the upcoming season remains scheduled.
At the center of negotiations is a disagreement between the league and the WNBPA over revenue sharing, expansion fees, and salary structure.
With no agreement in place, transactions remain frozen while both sides continue discussions, and players have authorized the union to consider further action if talks do not progress.
