Kelsey Plum Earns High Praise from Candace Parker in Unrivaled

Kelsey Plum's blazing form in the current season of Unrivaled impressed Candace Parker, who revealed an appreciative observation about the LA Sparks guard.
Speaking about joining Unrivaled in 2025, Plum mentioned that it “wasn’t the time” for her to enter the league. However, her noteworthy performances for Phantom this year indicate that she could've been significantly successful even if she had joined in 2025.
Parker and her Post Moves podcast co-host, Aliyah Boston, appreciated the way Plum was performing during a recent episode of their show. Parker led the way, saying, "KP [Kelsey Plum] went off. Twenty-five in the first half, 38 points for the game, She is one of those players that I honestly know is going to succeed in Unrivaled."
She also stated, "She’s a player who is in some of the best shape I’ve ever seen in my entire life. And you know there’s going to be an adjustment. She went off for 38 points."
Plum is in elite condition, and it’s been invaluable for Phantom BC. The team has been shorthanded, with Satou Sabally sidelined, Dana Evans inactive, and Tiffany Hayes exiting early during Phantom’s game against the Lunar Owls.
That’s exactly when Plum took the responsibility on her shoulders. She led Phantom with a 38-point performance, going 16-of-22 from the field. She even added eight rebounds and 11 assists.
If Plum can retain her form, Phantom authorities will be more than happy to provide her with the contracted amount. However, the 31-year-old also has the opportunity to pocket some extra cash, given that she is in good form.
Kelsey Plum’s Chances to Win $50,000
For the first time, Unrivaled has introduced a cash prize for its free-throw challenge. The rules are simple. Players must have the highest free-throw percentage in the first five games, appear in all five of them, and attempt a minimum of six free throws.
Given Plum’s track record, she could be a serious contender. During the 2025 WNBA season, she averaged 5.7 free throw attempts per game, the third-most in the league. She attempted 244 free throws—second-most overall—while converting at an impressive 89.3 percent from the line.
Interestingly, despite her 38-point outburst, Plum has attempted just one free throw in Unrivaled so far. She’s currently 1-for-1 at the stripe, with just two matches to go before the contest's conclusion.
Still, with her ability to draw fouls and convert under pressure, Plum has the tools to challenge Paige Bueckers and the others for the free-throw crown.
Now, the question is whether she will be able to maintain her form in the coming games as Phantom pushes forward.
