Heading into the final round, all eyes were on Rory McIlroy as he chased a historic back-to-back Masters title, and after sealing the win, Kai Trump reacted with a four-word message on her Instagram story.
For those who missed it, she had chosen Bryson DeChambeau to win the event initially.
Regardless, a few hours after the win, Kai Trump shared a photo with Rory McIlroy and wrote, "Let's go!!! Huge congrats @rorymcilro," even though she had picked against him before the tournament.
Speaking with Mirror U.S. Sports, she said, "I think Bryson," explaining her pick, and added she didn’t know who her grandfather, Donald Trump, had backed.
However, DeChambeau failed to make the cut at Augusta after a poor performance, finishing just below the cutline along with several other players.
For McIlroy, Sunday’s win was special, as it was the first time his parents were present to watch him receive the Green Jacket.
With this victory, McIlroy joined legends like Jack Nicklaus as the fourth player to win back-to-back Masters titles, alongside Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods.
While McIlroy Celebrates, Kai Trump is Just Getting Started
As McIlroy celebrated his Masters win, another story of determination was happening on a different stage. Kai Trump is no longer on the sidelines.
The 18-year-old golf prodigy and granddaughter of President Donald Trump is officially back in action, working hard to get ready for her first year at the University of Miami.
She had surgery on her wrist and is now focused on one thing: being the best on the green. Her most recent Instagram post shows that she means business.
She's working hard to get ready for her first year at the University of Miami, and she's making it clear that she means business.
She recently posted a video of herself doing box squats at the gym and wrote, "We're so back."
Yes, she had surgery on her wrist in January to fix the pain and keep playing golf the right way.
She played in her first LPGA Tour event, The Annika, in November, just two months before her surgery. She competed against the best golfers in the world.
Her first professional event didn't go well; she came in last with an 18-over 158(78-80), finishing 27 shots behind the leader.
Now that she's better, she's hungry. The Hurricanes in Miami should be careful. Kai isn't just coming back; she's coming back stronger.
