Jordan Chiles Steers UCLA Gymnastics to Victory With Unexpected Move

Jordan Chiles honored a music legend and earned a perfect 10 in the process. The 5th-seeded Bruins just secured a victory over the 17th-seeded Minnesota.
The 24-year-old landed her 4th perfect 10, giving the Bruins a push they needed.
For her routine in Minnesota, Chiles chose Minnesota’s adored Prince.
“I wanted to bring back my Prince routine because Prince was originally from Minnesota. I just feel honored to be here. Understanding what Prince’s legacy has left, he definitely felt very inspiring to me, especially being here in Minnesota.”
Ever since January 17, Chiles has been landing the perfect 10s without a miss. And today, that gave the team a 197.550-197.275 victory over Minneapolis. Despite the loss, the crowd left the stadium with smiles on their faces.
“There’s a sold-out crowd that literally were giving her a standing ovation,” said UCLA coach Janelle McDonald. “Prince is so special to Minnesota, and for her to be able to go out and just nail that routine – it was so well received.”
This marks how big this moment was for Minnesota and for Chiles, who especially changed her routine for these people. However, this wasn’t the first time she picked Prince for her routine.
Jordan Chiles’ 2025 Prince Routine
Last year, Chiles’ Prince-themed performance at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad left a major impact on the internet. The routine included tumbling and choreography that most would call difficult. However, she managed a near-perfect 9.975 score.
"Honestly, when we started working on this, I thought, 'If I'm coming back, I want to come back with a banger,'" Chiles told ESPN back then. "I don't want to come back and be like, 'Oh, hey guys, I am back.' No, I want to come back with something that people are going to enjoy.”
The two-time Olympian already had several NCAA titles under her belt, but she returned to UCLA to claim a championship with this team.
She has already started to leave the “legacy” at UCLA that she mentioned last year. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
