Jordan Chiles is one of those NCAA names that just cannot be ignored. And today, she showcased the reason behind that once more.

The 24-year-old led the UCLA Bruins to a 197.550–197.275 victory at Minnesota in the last match, in her iconic Prince routine. And a week later, on February 15, Chiles landed her fourth consecutive 10 on floor to lead the UCLA Bruins to another victory against Michigan.

Chiles stellar run, that began on January 17, gained momentum through her constant perfection. In front of the Valentine’s Day home crowd at Pauley Pavilion, her perfect 10 helped the No. 4 Bruins defeat Michigan 197.725 to 196.975.

The reaction that followed was cold. The Houston native collapsed after seeing her score being posted. She got up right away, walked around the floor while counting her 5 perfect scores of the season.

The ESPNW and UCLA Gymnastics’ Instagram post’s caption summed it up rightfully, “Jordan Chiles is on a PERFECT 10 TEAR”. Because the two-time Olympian is now chasing a particular goal.

“That collapse was like a huge relief, like man, I keep doing it over and over again,” Chiles said. “That was my goal, right? I literally said I want to break the records, so I'm just gonna keep doing it the best I can.”

However, as per head coach Janelle McDonald, Chiles had not been able to practice much due to illness. But that did not stop her from being the cornerstone for the Bruins. However, the Bruins’ overall performance contributed largely.

UCLA Bruins’ Performance in the Game

Along with Chiles, the Bruins’ overall performance has been great for the season. The freshmen have been exceptional, totalling five scores of 9.900 or higher. Tiana Sumanasekera landed three 9.900s, earning a career-high all-around score of 39.475.

Then there was Nola Matthews, who scored a career-high 9.925. Ashlee Sullivan also contributed with three scores of 9.850 or higher. Katelyn Rosen tied her season best with a 9.875. Despite Michigan’s early lead, the Bruins came back stronger in their second rotation, with 49.500 on uneven bars.

However, Chiles’ energy worked like the push the Bruins needed. Once again, she gave the testament of the work she puts in and the love she has for her team.

The Bruins will be facing the unranked Illinois on February 22. Do you think Chiles will achieve another perfect 10 to keep her streak alive? Let us know in the comments.
