Jake Paul just shared something really emotional about his fiancée, Jutta Leerdam, that has everyone talking. He opened up about a huge moment in her life and why it meant so much to him that he couldn't stop crying.
Paul said he felt part of the win after helping Leerdam manage the stress leading up to the event.
“I’m the one who has to deal with her stress, problems, and thoughts around the whole sport, so I know how much it meant to her," Paul said in a post shared by CryptoMikli.
"We were witnessing greatness at the highest level, and the coolest thing was her representing her country, the Dutch people. All of it was beautiful.” Paul added.
Leerdam won gold in the women’s 1000m speed skating on February 9, 2026, at Milano Cortina, clocking 1:12.31 to set a new Olympic record.
Her Dutch teammate, Femke Kok, had broken the record in the previous race with 1:12.59, before Leerdam immediately went even quicker to take gold. Japan’s Miho Takagi finished third for bronze.
While Paul believed in Leerdam's abilities, he could not help but get emotional for his fiancée, who improved on the silver medal she won at the same event in Beijing back in 2022.
“I could tell she was going to win before everyone else because I saw her times. That’s why I was already crying.” Paul added.
This marked the third Olympic medal for the already five-time World Champion Leerdam, as the couple has greatly celebrated the 27-year-old's achievements since they officially started dating in 2023.
But recently, Paul had to shut down criticism and negativity regarding his relationship with Leerdam after months of heavy talk by the Dutch media.
Jake Paul defends his relationship with Jutta Leerdam
In a recent post on X, Paul wrote, "Seeing the Dutch media lying about my fiancé Jutta and me. There is so much false information being spread about Jutta in the past years. It needs to stop."
This comes after Dutch news outlets like Socialnieuws and Sportnieuws have often commented on the couple's relationship, surrounding the headlines with uncertainty and potential break-up between Leerdam and Paul.
The Netherlands mainly showcased criticism towards Leerdam as they felt that she is losing her identity as a world-class athlete and instead chasing fame and money, tagging along with Paul.
However, her recent performances and growing list of accolades challenge that media narrative.
