First Bam Adebayo’s career-high six 3-pointers in A’Ones and now Jackie Young’s 35. A’Ja Wilson just can’t stop proving why she’s the MVP both on and off the court.
This Monday, Laces handed the Rose a 70-66 loss, and Young did not hold back. The Laces 0 managed 35 points from 13-of-19 shooting. Alyssa Thomas also racked up a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. And all that happened with Wilson sitting at the courtside.
“That’s the MVP — couldn’t lay an egg with her right there”, Young said at the post-game interaction.
The Wilson-Young duo ruled the 2025 WNBA season, playing for the Las Vegas Aces. Where the Laces captain was averaging 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. However, Wilson has always been pushing Young towards a higher performance.
"I'm a pain in the a** sometimes when she's not doing her job because I know that it is there. I know that Jackie Young is there, so I try to bring it out of her,” Wilson said about Young back in 2025. And today, she was right on the courtside. That’s a big reason why Young couldn’t just miss her shots, even against her Ace teammate, Chelsea Gray.
Young’s admiration for the Ace 22 isn’t new either. It’s a two-sided pathway.
"It's a blessing getting to play with the best player in the world every single day," Young said. "She is the standard, and on this team, everyone wants to be the standard. So, you don't want to be the one who is [slacking]." This win places Laces at 4-1 in this season, with just one loss against Mist.
But What About Rose?
Despite having an undefeated season entry, Rose has already taken two recent losses. The first one was 78-75 against Hive. And now, a 70-66. Rose star Chelsea Gray scored 22 points and 6 rebounds.
Kahleah Copper also had 21 points and 3 rebounds under her belt. But that wasn’t enough to turn the game over. By halftime, Laces was leading with 40-27. Rose’s FG stands at around to be 43.6% while for Laces, it was 51%.
Gray had managed to touch a 38-score record previously set by Napheesa Collier and Kelsey Plum. And with Lexie Hull and Shakira Austin on the roster, they might get back to their winning side.
Unrivaled has proven to be packed with WNBA stars, who are the best at their craft. The 3v3 format is tough, and every day, new career-high performances are being recorded. Rose stands against Phantom next. The roster includes Kelsey Plum, Aaliyah Boston, Natasha Cloud, etc.
After being on the losing side twice, Will Rose be able to win the ball this time? Comment down your thoughts on this!
