After being traded from the Chicago Sky, Angel Reese has started a new journey with the Atlanta Dream, ready to thrive alongside stars like Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard.
With the Sky, Reese had two mixed years, averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. Despite that, the team was far from consistent because of injuries and lineup issues. Even Reese struggled with a back injury in the 2025 WNBA season. That led her to miss most of August and the entire final stretch in September.
The Dream introduced Reese during an April press conference. Reese grew emotional while discussing her welcome alongside new teammates Naz Hillmon and Jordin Canada.

According to USA Today, Reese said, “I'm not satisfied (with) what I am as a player, and I feel like being around these kinds of players would help me get better…. At the end of the day, I want to win. Being able to come to an organization that really cared about its players. Being able to talk to players that genuinely know what I am…. It lowkey makes me emotional because I haven't had this, and I'm really grateful.”
The power forward is being traded in a deal in which the Sky will receive a 2027 and a 2028 first-round pick in exchange for her, and both teams will also swap second-round picks in 2028.
Sky GM Jeff Pagliocca praised the forward's tenure. “Angel has achieved many record-breaking milestones in her first two years in the WNBA and has been a competitive force for the Sky."
"We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game, and we know she will continue to have a big impact on the court and beyond. We wish Angel all the best in her next chapter,” Pagliocca added.
Now that Reese is on the new team, let's see what her teammates from the Dream are saying about her.

Reese, who ended her time with her previous team with averages of 12.9 rebounds, 14.1 points, and 2.7 assists in 64 games, has yet to show her dominance on the team.
Her new teammates expressed their excitement about the addition.
“Anytime Angel's been on the other side of the court, I think I had 30,” Howard opened up about how Reese played as her opponent.
There is some truth to Howard's claim, as Chicago's poor defense over the last two seasons often allowed Atlanta's perimeter stars to thrive offensively.
Even Allisha Gray echoed the same sentiment about facing Reese as an opponent. She said, “I ain’t gonna lie, last year, I loved playing against Chicago because I had my best games”.
Gray lit up Reese’s former team last season, exploiting Chicago’s defensive holes to pile up some of her best point totals in a game. That dominance has carried over into their new partnership, as
Gray has opened the season on a tear, pouring in 24 and 26 points in their first two games together.
Reese and the Dream started the year off on the road with back-to-back victories. But they’re taking on A’ja Wilson and the WNBA favorite Las Vegas Aces.
