Insider Reveals Bold Bay-Area Vision Involving A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo

A bold new vision for Bay Area basketball could unite one of sports' biggest power couples. An NBA insider suggests a plan is brewing to bring WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson and NBA All-Star Bam Adebayo to Golden State's franchises.

As ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reported, "A'ja Wilson, a four-time WNBA MVP, will be a key free agent target for Lacob and the Valkyries, sources said. Why would this matter for the Warriors? Well, Wilson and Adebayo have been together for years. These two becoming the faces of both Golden State franchises is certainly something to monitor."

The report stems from discussion around Adebayo's potential move to the Warriors. As a close friend of Jimmy Butler and a player who has been on the Warriors' radar for a year, Adebayo could be a target. And with Joe Lacob owning both the WNBA and NBA franchises, he could present the couple a deal.

However, it won't be easy to bring Wilson on board. The four-time WNBA MVP will have to leave the dynasty she built with the Las Vegas Aces to lead the Valkyries’ ambitious new era. But with Adebayo, it might be possible.

Especially since he holds a player option for the 2028–29 season, which he could decline if he chooses to test free agency or push for a move to Golden State. Meanwhile, Wilson is expected to hit free agency once the league’s moratorium is lifted amid tense CBA negotiations.

But How Realistic is This Scenario?

While Siegel floated the possibility of both Bam and A’ja landing in Golden State, nothing is confirmed. And given Wilson’s history with the Aces, any move is complicated.

Notably, Wilson was the first draft pick in Las Vegas Aces history, selected No. 1 overall in 2018. Since then, she has become the cornerstone of the franchise.

The organization has called her a “generational talent” and its “foundational piece.” And that reputation is backed by results, as the franchise has made multiple Finals appearances and won three WNBA championships in four years.

So when the Aces signed Wilson to a multi-year contract extension in 2023, it wasn’t surprising. After all, she’s also been vocal about her loyalty.

“If I could retire an Ace, I would love to. I don't see myself putting on any different jersey,” she said in a February 20, 2025, interview with CBS Sports. So, given that history, a move to the Golden State feels unlikely, for now. Do you agree?
