'Insane in Dallas’: Fans Predict Paige Bueckers–Azzi Fudd Reunion Before WNBA Draft

Azzi Fudd's extraordinary campaign this season has caught everyone's attention for the upcoming WNBA Draft, as she is now projected to be the No.1 pick. All roads lead to a reunion with former Huskies teammate and current partner Paige Bueckers of the Dallas Wings.
Fudd once again proved her capabilities as she was in her bag against Syracuse in the second round of the NCAA tournament, tying her career-high points and three-pointers scored in a convincing win for UConn.
Fudd accumulated 34 points mainly through the eight shots she scored from beyond the arc. But that is not all, she created 46 points in total with either scoring or assisting, the second-most in UConn's last six seasons behind only Paige Bueckers' 47, who also reached this milestone against the Orange back in 2024.
Bueckers was Geno Auriemma's go-to player for the better part of her collegiate career, as she left UConn last year as the No.1 overall draft pick after leading them to a national championship.
Fudd is following the same pathway as her partner after she left for the WNBA and Dallas last year. The "People's Princess" became the face of the Huskies this season and plans to go out with back-to-back national championships.
One look at her accolades this season backs up her projected draft pick. Fudd is averaging a career-high 17.7 points per game along with 45% shooting accuracy from beyond the arc, a number which exceeds 47 if we only consider off-ball screens, one of her strongest moves on the hardwood. Fudd also currently leads all National Player of the Year honours.
Although critics are divided, as some believe that Dallas is better off opting for a center like Lauren Betts or Awa Fam to fix issues in the interior defence and paint area. Meanwhile, others want to see what a Bueckers-Fudd link-up will look like going forward in attack. Not to mention, Fudd can provide a significant upgrade to Dallas' three-point shooting average (30.4%).
Nevertheless, let's take a look at what fans have to say about Azzi Fudd's potential next team being the Dallas Wings.
Fans Hype Azzi Fudd's Performance With Potential Reunion With Buckers
Azzi Fudd's time with the Huskies is coming to an end, as she played one of her best games in her final home game in Gampel Pavilion on Monday. But fans are already excited to watch her in the WNBA, with the consensus choosing Paige Bueckers' Dallas Wings as her next team.
"That duo is going to be insane in Dallas", one fan commented, suggesting the duo of Fudd and Bueckers will be too much to handle for the rest of the league.
"Strictly hoops soulmates," meanwhile, one user cleverly suggested the idea of Fudd and Bueckers being soulmates on the hardwood, after the duo scored similar stat lines against the same opponent as well.
"Bro is rewriting the UConn record books quarter by quarter, Azzi Fudd behind Paige Bueckers", another user penned, acknowledging Fudd's 34-point game on Monday while suggesting how similar the career trajectory of the duo is.
Will Dallas eventually choose Azzi Fudd as their latest No.1 overall pick, or will they go the way of a big? April 13 cannot come soon enough.
