Indiana Fever Star Shares Emotional Update After Major Unrivaled Setback

Feb 10, 2026, 3:59 AM CUT

After a limited season with the Indiana Fever last year, Aari McDonald joined Breeze BC to compete in Unrivaled. But even there, she ran into unexpected trouble.

She worked her way back from a broken bone in her right foot, an injury she suffered in August while playing for the Fever. Now, once again, her season has been cut short as she’s  out with a “right lower extremity injury.”

This time, McDonald addressed the setback herself. Taking to her official X account, she shared a heartfelt message. “I’m good, y’all. Been grindin’ every day to get back before the Unrivaled season ended, which was always the plan.”

“ But things didn’t work out the way we hoped, and we had to adjust. Overall, I’m grateful to be here, and I’m locked in on my return, which will be very soon,”

Well, the injury comes after McDonald saw limited action in Unrivaled. She appeared in just one game on Thursday before getting hurt again. After that appearance, she posted, “Today is my first time playing in almost five months.”

She logged only 6.2 minutes in that game. It was enough for her to finish with two points and a rebound to contribute towards Breeze BC’s 69–62 win. But that’s not it. Last season with Indiana, she appeared in 20 games, averaging 9.8 points and 4.7 assists.

So, while her time with Breeze BC was brief, the loss is still a major blow for the team. Now, the franchise has been forced to move quickly to fill the gap.

Breeze BC Makes a Bold Move

As a response to McDonald’s injury, Breeze BC decided on a four-team trade. They acquired Courtney Williams from Vinyl BC, marking the league’s second trade ever. The deal also sent Saniya Rivers from Hive BC to Vinyl BC.

Azurá Stevens moved from Rose BC, to Hive BC. And now, Williams joins Paige Bueckers, Cameron Brink, Rickea Jackson, Kate Martin, and Dominique Malonga on the roster.

Notably, it’s not the first time Williams has been traded at Unrivaled. She was also involved in Unrivaled’s first-ever trade back in December 2024. Initially, she was sent from Laces BC to the Lunar Owls in exchange for Natasha Cloud, before being moved again.
