While Jade Carey looked pretty settled into her newer role, her latest update highlighted that the time on the mat hasn’t ended yet.
After nearly 2 years of inactivity since the 2024 Paris Olympics, the 2X Olympian thought of the floor once again, a disclosure that came directly from her living room couch. And the USA Gymnastics’ X post circulated it further.
“Gymnastics has always been at the centre of my life, and I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting,” said Carey as she sat down with a diary and pen. "With that being said, I still have more to give, and I’m not done yet”, she added, as the screen blackened into a “See you soon.”
After the team gold and individual bronze in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Carey’s pause trailed the 2025 NCAA Championship. Taking time for her degree and recovery, she returned to Oregon as a student-assistant coach rather than a performing athlete.
But looking back, the 25-year-old affirmed that Gymnastics taught her “so many lessons about growth, resilience, and passion. In fact, “the journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been unforgettable” for her.
And while that unforgettability is drawing her back towards the elite competitions once more, Jade Carey never really strayed further from gymnastics in the first place.
Jade Carey Had Been a “Natural Helper in the Gym”
In 2025, a 24-year-old Carey finished the run with a podium-adjacent score of 39.6250 in the NCAA, landing 4th overall. But what came next was her transition into coaching from a competitor, and a seamless one at that.
“I was always a natural helper in the gym anyway, just with corrections and skill and mentally,” said Carey, reflecting on her transition. “So, it almost feels a little natural to me to still do that just on a little more elevated level.”
She remained in her alma mater, working with her father, Brian Carey. Never straying away from the world of gymnastics, this time, she’ll be returning to her earlier position.
Do you think it’ll be a seamless transition again? Let us know in the comments.
