A’Ja Wilson might be in the big league now. But the recent update suggests that she’s still a Gamecock to Dawn Staley.

The Las Vegas Aces star recently played a “who’s quote it is” game involving Staley and Geno Auriemma while being at the USA Basketball Women's National Team training camp. But seeing the outcome, Staley couldn’t help herself.

“Chile, this is hilarious. I don’t know where they found those quotes”, the Gamecocks coach teased Wilson as she reposted the original clip. “But @_ajawilson22 girl, you were wrong and right in this case!!! The “'she ain’t say that to me' is correct!”

In the game, Wilson was given 5 quotes, and the hilarious part is that she got just one right. At some point, the former Gamecocks’ star even said, “she (Staley) ain’t say that to me”. And Staley had to agree to this.

This is the 4x MVP, 3x title winner and 3x DPOY we’re talking about. So, it makes sense that Staley never had to say anything to Wilson about her game. However, the original Auriemma and Staley encounter wasn’t so “chill”.

Geno Auriemma and Dawn Staley Get Into A Heated Interaction

The Gamecocks ended the UConn Huskies’ unblemished season with a 62-48 Final 4 defeat. While the Huskies struggled both offensively and defensively, tension could be spotted throughout the game.

But it soon spread to the sidelines, between the coaches. Auriemma started the conversation with Staley, visibly frustrated, pointing his finger at the paint. And Staley didn’t back down either. Lastly, the coaching staff had to separate the two.

To Auriemma, a pregame handshake protocol violation, officiating issues, and Staley's sideline behaviour were frustrating. Meanwhile, Staley said she had “no idea” what upset Geno. And bluntly enough, she was “not going to let any incident take away from the performance on the floor.”

So, Wilson playing that quiz was probably the only funny moment of the day; the reality was far from it.

Moving forward, what’s your take on Staley and Auriemma’s sideline matter?
