‘Going to Maximise My Moment’: Angel Reese Shows Clear Intent for National Goal

Angel Reese got her first call for the Team USA women's senior basketball team training camp this offseason, and the experience has left her yearning for the gold more than ever.
In an interview with Olympics.com, the Chicago Sky star opened up about her dream. With a chance of getting selected for the Olympics, she said, “It’s everybody's dream. You want to play for your country. I think 2028 is really important because you get to play in your country and play in LA.”
Angel Reese witnessed history and is now determined to be a part of it
Despite breakout rookie seasons, Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark were both left off the 2024 Olympics roster. As the women’s team won their 8th consecutive gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Reese only watched from the sidelines. But now she wants to be in the center of it all.
Recovering from a back injury from the 2025 WNBA season, Angel Reese is sitting out Unrivaled this year, but she could not pass up the opportunity to be a part of Team USA’s training camp.
"All I wanted to do this offseason was play USA Basketball. This is what I decided to do, so I'm going to maximise my moment here, " Reese told Olympics.com.
Her journey towards the gold medal began on December 12 at Duke University in North Carolina, where the camp took place.
But will Angel Reese be able to fulfill her dream?
Reese wasn't the only one present at the training camp. WNBA rival Caitlin Clark and 2025 Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers were just some of the young talent that attended camp with internationally experienced stars like Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, and Kahleah Copper.
“They didn't just select us for no reason. They know that we can bring something to the table”, she said.
As Angel Reese eyes to keep the gold at home, giving Team USA their 11th win, only time will tell if she makes it to the team.
