While several WNBA stars, including Alysha Clark, are gearing up for the upcoming season of Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball, Kysre Gondrezick suffered a disheartening twist of fate.

On January 14, TMZ Sports posted an X update, which revealed that the former Chicago Sky player had torn her Achilles tendon during one of her recent training sessions. It also disclosed that she wouldn't be able to take to the AU Pro Basketball court in the 2026 season due to the mishap.

Gondrezick put the stamp of authenticity on TMZ Sports's report by reposting their update. She also disclosed her current state of mind by mentioning, "This one hurts" in the caption.

A video attached to TMZ Sports' official report about Gondrezick's injury displayed a section of her training session where she sustained the injury. However, it didn't showcase the exact moment when she tore her Achilles. The 28-year-old was training at the University of Miami on Sunday when she picked up the injury.

Gondrezick will have to undergo surgery to get herself back in playing condition, which typically means a 9-12 month recovery period.

So, with basketball out of the picture for the next few months, she has the chance to invest more time into her second interest.

Kysre Gondrezick went from basketball to modeling.

Gondrezick burst onto the WNBA scene with real flash. She was the No. 4 overall pick for the Indiana Fever back in 2021. However, during her rookie phase, she stepped away from the postseason for mental health.

Fast-forward to 2024, and she inked her way with the Chicago Sky, which is where she was hungry for rotation minutes. But the 28-year-old logged just 3.2 per game before the mid-June waiver dropped like a brick.

But then she flipped straight to modeling. Appreciably, Gondrezick also became Playboy’s Miss June 2025. She celebrated the feat with an Instagram post.

Her popularity suggests that AU Pro Basketball will also face the consequences of her absence from the upcoming season.
