Fever Fans Have Mixed Reactions to Sophie Cunningham’s Viral Clip

Jan 20, 2026, 4:31 PM CUT

Sophie Cunningham's podcast, Show Me Something, shows how the Fever guard gets fans talking with her antics, and she did something similar on the latest episode, which drew reactions from many fans.

It all came up as Cunningham and West Wilson were discussing her experience at the Sophie Cunningham Classic. And while doing so, the WNBA star pointed out a noticeable bump on her lip.

Addressing it directly, she made a joke that immediately caught viewers off guard. “Herpe. I have herpes. So don’t kiss me,” Cunningham said, leaning closer to the camera to show what was clearly a cold sore.

However, later in the episode, she clarified that it wasn’t actually herpes. Cunnigham revealed the reality behind her condition, admitting, "I’m telling you, I used someone’s ChapStick, and I got a herpe [actually a cold sore]. I have herpes," she joked again.

She also shared that whenever she travels to different climates, her lips tend to dry out, making her more prone to cold sores. “I also drank after a bunch of people and used a bunch of people’s ChapStick,” she added.

However, her initial comment was enough to get fans talking

How did fans react to Sophie Cunningham's revelation?

Cunnigham's cold sore remarks sparked a debate in the comments section of an X update that shared her words (by BrickCenter_). One user joked, "The internet discovering cold sores in 2026."

Once Cunningham mentioned herpes, speculation followed. People started debating whether it was Herpes or cold sores. However, that wasn’t the only conversation happening in the comment section.

As Herpes is a common viral infection often spread through skin-to-skin contact, fans were quick to jump to conclusions. One netizen wrote, "Pretty sure I know what caused that—it’s a dating app lol."

However, she repeatedly explained that the cold sore was caused by weather changes and dry lips, not anything else.

Some viewers expressed discomfort, noting that most people wouldn’t discuss something like this publicly. Others, however, praised the Indiana Fever enforcer for her honesty.

As one fan put it, “Respecting her honesty—opening up about something like this takes courage.” So yes, once again Cunningham managed to spark conversation.
