Fans React as Angel Reese Sends Strong Message Months After Controversy

Angel Reese put out a subtle yet powerful three-word statement on X ahead of the 2026 WNBA season, as the Chicago Sky forward enters her third year in the WNBA. Reese's post came right after the WNBA and the WNBPA finalized a fresh CBA deal after the previous one expired in October 2025.
As per ESPN's Shams Charania, both sides have agreed to terms that will grant players nearly 20% of the league’s gross revenue, along with a $7 million salary cap and a $300,000 increase in the minimum salary.
With the 2026 season no longer at risk of disruption, Angel Reese took to X and celebrated the players' union win in her own style, writing, "YEAR 3 LOADING...."
Angel Reese's post also comes months after she sparked controversy with her comments last season in September.
The 23-year-old, in an interview with the Chicago Tribune, said she “might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best" for herself if the team did not raise its level to match her own.
Angel Reese quickly expressed regret for her remarks and apologized to the Sky management and her teammates, saying that people had taken her words out of context.
"I think the language is taken out of context. I really didn't intentionally mean to put down my teammates, because they've been through this with me throughout the whole year." Reese said.
She continued, "They've busted their a—, just like I've busted my a—. They've shown up for me through thick and thin, and in the locker room when nobody could see anything."
And while there were murmurs about her tenure at the Chicago Sky after she was suspended for half a game owing to her remarks, Reese confirmed in December that she'd be playing for them in the 2026 season.
Putting the speculation to rest, Angel Reese said, "I’m under contract, so yes, I plan on returning to the Sky."
The Fandom Reacts to Angel Reese's Tweet
Angel Reese’s post about looking forward to her third year in the WNBA sparked overwhelmingly positive reactions online.
While some of her fans showered her with appreciation, others also argued that her team deserves a stronger lineup.
"DPOY SEASON WE HERE", one fan wrote, expressing hope of Reese bagging the award in 2026.
Seeing how she led the league last season, this wish might just come true.
"Tell that team you need some real guards or you're sitting out this season," a fan suggested, opining that Reese required more help from her guards.
This take holds good especially after the results of her world-class collaboration with Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers in the FIBA qualifiers.
Another fan, acknowledging both her recent performance and the CBA renewal, wrote, "It was great watching you at the FIBA qualifying tournament! Happy for all that the WNBA contract appears to finally be done."
