The on-court chemistry between the two usual rivals, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, went viral after Team USA's back-to-back wins. While some fans are excited by the duo, others are already criticizing the new dynamic.

The USA kicked off the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 qualifying tournament with big wins. March 12 saw them dishing out a 110-46 win over Senegal, followed by a 91-48 victory over Puerto Rico on 13.

Hater Report didn’t waste time taking it to X. Captioning the post, “Caitlin Clark with the assist to Angel Reese. WHAT TIMELINE IS THIS.” Even USA Basketball’s official account posted a photo of these two, writing, “The next gen has arrived.”

In the Hater Report’s video, Clark could be seen making a textbook pass to Reese, who excelled in that layup by bucketing the shot. This on-court chemistry could be a sign of things to come.

Fans Shared Mixed Opinions About This Duo

Reese and Clark have competed against each other since college, which extended till their rookie year in the WNBA. Fans on X have made their excitement clear about seeing the two rivals on the same roster.

“Basketball fans never thought they’d see that combo,” wrote one fan. While another added, “The internet is not ready for this duo.” “Headlines gotta change to they’re best friends not mortal enemies,” said another.

However, in the USA Basketball post, fans mostly criticised Reese. It looked like the Chicago Sky star was trying to dribble the ball in a Point Guard fashion with Clark right behind her. And the fans were not happy about this “experiment.”

“This experiment was AWFUL. Never do it again”, wrote one. Another added, “Angel Reese literally tried to play PG while CC was right next to her is absolutely wild.” One fan agreed that “Reese should not be taking the ball up.”

Some criticized the coaching decisions and lineups, questioning the strategy for a team with so many top players.

“What’s the coach thinking tonight?? That was awful looking basketball from the country that has the best basketball players!!” one wrote.

One X user said, “Lawson needs to learn how substitutions work. She doing hockey line changes.” Another fan agreed, writing, "Bad line-ups. No plays for CC."

Despite the mixed opinions, Team USA has continued to dominate so far. What’s your take? Let us know in the comments.
