This Saturday, Dominique Malonga just made history in the 2026 Unrivaled season, and her achievement got Paige Bueckers and Kelsey Mitchell both jumping onto the hype train.
While Malonga and Bueckers' side, Breeze, got the better of the Lunar Owls 75-68, the former's right-handed slam dunk from a Rickea Jackson pass became the highlight of the match.
Initially, Bueckers celebrated Malonga's score on the court, but she didn't feel that was enough, and went on to share a carousel of Instagram stories featuring Malonga's proud moment.
Mitchell isn't Malonga's teammate in the WNBA or Unrivaled, but the Fever guard rated the Breeze No. 14's feat as a positive for women's sports. Mitchell also shared an Instagram story featuring Malonga's dunk, captioned, "Everyone watches women's sports."
Malonga received ample support from her team as Bueckers scored 28 points with 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and Jackson racked up a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.
But while the Seattle Storm center got the crowd and WNBA stars on its feet with her dunk, it wasn't anything new to her.
Dominique Malonga Describes Her Dunking Skills
Besides, Bueckers, Mitchell, and Unrivaled fans, Malonga also cherished her one-handed dunk. However, this was far from being the first time she had scored by dunking.
Malonga scored her first professional dunk during an EuroCup Women's game back in 2024. She has also done it multiple times in practice. But during her post-match on-court interview, the Breeze No. 14 detailed how the feeling of her most recent dunk was utterly different from the others, mainly because of the love she received from fans.
Malonga said, "It feels really good. I was practising a lot. I don't want to be a practice [dunker], I want to do that in-game. So, I'm happy about that … I was happy to feel the love from the whole arena actually. Everybody was so hyped up — it was a great moment."
Now, since dunking makes Malonga feel so "good," do you think she will attempt and score more dunks this season?
