Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston has impressed many with her performance at Unrivaled, but that success has now turned into a concerning situation.
AB averaged 18.9 points per game for Phantom BC this season, the second-most among centers. Her scoring figure also includes one three-pointer per game on average, shooting 33.3% from beyond the arc, and all this is proof that her game continues to expand.
However, that growth may not help her immediately. That’s because Unrivaled recently announced that Boston has been sidelined from the current season due to injury. On March 1, sports reporter Chloe Peterson relayed the news with an X update. It read, “Aliyah Boston, who left Phantom BC’s last regular-season game with an injury, has been ruled out for the rest of the Unrivaled season due to a right lower extremity injury.”
But while the league revealed the injury, it didn’t specify the severity of the injury. With only three days left in the current season of Unrivaled, the news caught a plethora of fans off guard.
How Did Fans React to Aliyah Boston’s Injury News?
The news of Boston's crash out of Unrivaled due to the injury got many concerned. The majority of such fans wanted to learn more about the Phantom center's injury.
“Considering the Unrivaled season ends in three days, ‘out for the season’ doesn’t give much clarity on the seriousness of the injury,” one out of that club mentioned.
Another fan was worried about a different instance altogether. His sarcastic comment read, "So you have Boston and Citron both injured before USA games. Just wonderful."
A third one hoped that Boston's injury doesn't ruin the Fever's 2026 WNBA season, writing, "I’ve seen this movie before. God please protect all Fever players so they can be healthy for the season,” another user wrote. Last year, Indiana struggled with injuries throughout the season. While Boston stayed relatively healthy, Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham, and others dealt with setbacks."
Besides everything else, one of the major concerns related to Boston's injury is that she was expected to play in the upcoming FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament, but the entire scenario is currently in jeopardy.
So the concern is real. But the question is whether Boston’s injury is minor or something that could impact bigger plans ahead. What do you think?
