‘Deserved’: Fans Go Wild as Caitlin Clark Wins Major Honor After Team USA Debut

Mar 19, 2026, 12:20 AM CUT

There aren't many things in basketball that Caitlin Clark cannot do, and as the FIBA has just started to get that, the fans are already there, stating the obvious.

Team USA came down with 5 clean and dominant victories in Puerto Rico in the FIBA qualifier tournament, and the Indiana Fever Guard remained the crux of the star-studded roster. As a result, the authorities couldn't refrain from declaring her the most valuable in the tournament.

“IT’S OFFICIAL. CAITLIN CLARK IS YOUR TISSOT MVP”, FIBA announced through an official X post on March 18. Clark seized the crown by averaging the best efficiency for her team (14.6), being the second-best scorer with 11.6 points (52.9% shooting), and recording a tournament-best 6.4 assists.

Clark’s consistent performance was acknowledged by the authorities and experts, despite playing off the bench in four of the five games. And finally, it was time for the fans to make their opinions clear.

Fans Concluded Caitlin Clark’s MVP Title

The Fever Guard’s WNBA season was cut short due to a groin injury. She spent the whole 8 months recovering, but her performance in San Juan confirmed that the long off-court time didn’t change a thing in her drive. In fact, she came back stronger, playing out of her usual zone.

“Well deserved—stats don’t lie”, wrote one fan, echoing the same sentiment. “The sickest part is this is her first time running real competitive 5-on-5 in 8 months, and she had to play roles she wasn’t necessarily used to at times. It’s scary hours when the Indiana Fever season starts.”

Another fan highlighted the same matter, addressing the different positions CC played, maintaining her efficiency with them, bridging gaps, and still managing to lead the scoreboards. Which makes her a deserving MVP.

“What other player this week played all 4 positions besides CC?”, they wrote. “She was PG day 1, other than that, she was put in 3 other positions, and STILL managed to connect with teammates at insane times, and scored the most assists, and scored the most points. A deserved MVP.”

Many even agreed that Clark needs to try out the European league, where her talents would actually be recognised. As per these fans, the WNBA league sabotages Clark’s career and fails to recognize the greatness she packs.

“CC needs to go to the European team to let her talents flourish; this is indisputable proof the W is sabotaging her career”, they wrote. While another fan agreed, “A league that actually recognises her achievements, twilight zone.”

The other comments had the same praises, especially on Clark’s playmaking. But after winning the MVP in the WC qualifiers, do you think Clark will be able to repeat the feat later in the World Cup as well?
