Dearica Hamby Delivers a Historic Night in Vinyl’s Win Over the Hive

Jan 13, 2026, 3:30 PM CUT

Dearica Hamby basically put Kelsey Plum, Chelsea Gray, and Napheesa Collier in an unexpected spot, and now everyone knows who the new Unrivaled history maker is.

The third game of the Unrivaled 2026 season went like this: Vinyl put Hive up against the wall with an 89-66. Hamby went for a 16 of 23 shooting and scored 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists alone. To make things worse for Hive, Rae Burrell scored 14, and Rhyne Howard added 18 more.

The beginning of the 2026 season wasn’t the best for Vinyl. They have played three games so far and lost two. After losing to Laces by 58-42 and Rose by 69-67, Teresa Weatherspoon’s girls decided that was enough losing.

Hive entered the game with no wins, just like Vinyl. But Hamby immediately set that right by leading her peers towards 24 points and 5 rebounds within halftime.

By the end, the LA Spark Forward has set a brand-new record by scoring a total of 40 points in the history of the Unrivaled league. Collier, Plum, and Gray had previously held the 38-score record.

And Hamby did all that without any three-pointers

“She’s incredibly confident”, Coach Weatherspoon said, “So of course she’s going to have a night like this — and many nights to come.”

Crisp stats have backed up this Spark forward's 2025 WNBA season. She has averaged 18.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. And now, the Unrivaled league performance is catching up to that.

“We just want to get a win”, the Vinyl star stated at the sideline interview after the game, as the water dousing celebration followed.

But that being said, how are things looking for Hive?

Hive's 2026 Unrivaled

Even with Saniya Rivers, Soniya Citron, and Kelsey Mitchell in the roster, Hive has yet to win a game in the Unrivaled 2026 season. 72-56 against Mist, 73-62 opposing Breeze, and lastly the 89-66 against Vinyl; the losing streak goes on.

But there is more to this. The season has only started, and the league is packed with stars who are practically warming up.

With the new record onboard, the question is, how well can Hive push through and turn the tables?
