None could deny that the South Carolina Gamecocks influence more than just what happens on the court. And if you have any doubts, Dawn Staley with her latest move just cleared that up.
Early Tuesday morning, Staley took it to her official X account to tease a new line of South Carolina women’s basketball tumblers. She even asked fans to help decide which item should be released first among the three colorways: garnet, black, and white.
“OOOH @GamecockWBB FAMs!! I need your help with something,” Staley penned. “We are about to roll out these beauties soon! I know you want not 1, not 2, but all 3! I just need to know which one you want us to sell first?”
Each stainless steel tumbler was branded with phrases closely tied to the program’s identity. One displayed “FAMs,” a term Staley often uses to describe the extended community surrounding South Carolina women’s basketball. Another featured “Beyond Measure,” a phrase synonymous with the program’s championship standard. The third showcased a bold “W” at the center, encircled by “South Carolina Women’s Basketball.”
Within hours, the post took off and drew over 24,000 views and sparked a lively debate among fans over which color should launch first. After all, this isn’t new territory for Staley.
Dawn Staley’s Not New to Setting Trends.
During South Carolina’s January 15 game against Texas, coaches and staff members wore shirts featuring Staley’s face. Fans immediately rushed to get their hands on them. The shirts were custom-made by designer Michael Glasker, whose brand “Always BIY” stands for “Believe in Yourself.”
The design honored women in leadership and featured a photo of Staley from her college days, with the phrase “My favorite coach is a woman” printed across the front.
Given the buzz, it’s clear fans are already eager for what’s next. Still, for now, Staley’s focus remains on the court as USC prepares to face No. 16 Oklahoma on January 23.
